Congratulations to SDWEG Members Tommy Anderson and Susie Schaefer

Their script, “Where the Sweetgrass Grows,” earned BEST SCRIPT 2020 by the New York Independent Cinema Awards.

The story features a female investigative reporter for a local Charleston, South Carolina, television station who uncovers a pattern of suspicious teenaged girl disappearances with the assistance of the ghost of one of the missing girls. This reporter must identify and find the killer before he claims his next victim.

They have also just received notification that their script is an official selection of L.A. Sun Film Fest for Best screenplay. The award winners will be announced in shortly.

“Where the Sweetgrass Grows” isn’t Tommy’s only work to achieve accolades in 2020. He wrote the script for the short film, “A Life After Oblivion,” a project of VetPics Productions, which was also a Finalist in the Independent Shorts Awards categories in Los Angeles. And that’s not all. He also designed the title art and acted in the film.

Congratulations to both Tommy and Susie.
