October Program Features Richard Lederer

Who was our youngest American president? Who was our oldest? Who was our tallest, shortest, and fattest? Union-Tribune language columnist and American history quizmaster Richard Lederer will illuminate the feats, fates, families, foibles, and firsts of our American presidents.

Odin Award winner Richard Lederer is the author of more than 50 books about language, history, and humor, including his best-selling Anguished English series and his current titles, A Treasury of Holloween Humor and A Treasury of Christmas Humor.

He is a founding co-host of “A Way With Words,” broadcast on KPBS.

Richard is a Life and Honorary member of the Guild who generously supports the Guild through both his presentations and special offers, including his latest offer to donate a portion of his sales for the two Holiday Treasury books to the Guild. For more information about this offer, see this post.

Dr. Lederer’s syndicated column, “Lederer on Language,” appears in newspapers and magazines throughout the United States, including the San Diego Union-Tribune. He has been named International Punster of the Year and Toastmasters International’s Golden Gavel winner.

Join us Monday, October 26, for Richard’s presentation.

The invitation with the Zoom address will be sent to all members the week before the meeting. Guests who wish to attend should send a message to webmaster@sdwritersguild.org by Friday, October 23, to request an invitation.

We begin each monthly meeting with an optional Marketing Support Group meeting at 5:30 p.m. The same Zoom session will continue for the regular meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. for signing in and informal networking. A short business meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m., and the program follows at 7 p.m.
